The first 30 minutes determines outcomes
For many toxins, decontamination is highly effective in the first 1-2 hours and useless after 4.
Step 1: Stop further exposure
Move pet away from the substance. Wash skin/coat if topical exposure.
Step 2: Call us BEFORE doing anything else
+91 98711 55162. Information we need:
- What substance (bring packaging)
- How much (best estimate)
- When ingested
- Pet weight
- Current symptoms
Step 3: Do NOT auto-induce vomiting unless told
For caustics, petroleum products, or unconscious pets - vomiting causes more harm.
Step 4: Bring pet in
Keep them warm, calm. If seizing, do not put hand in mouth.
Common at-home poisons
- Rat bait (anti-coagulant; treatable if early)
- Insecticides
- Plants (lily, oleander, sago palm)
- Foods (chocolate, raisins, xylitol)
- Human medications (paracetamol, ibuprofen)
- Cleaning products
Save +91 98711 55162 now, not when you need it.
