What counts as an emergency
- · Difficulty breathing, blue gums, or collapse
- · Hit by a vehicle, fall, or major trauma
- · Suspected poisoning — chemicals, plants, foods, medications
- · Bloated abdomen with retching but no vomit (especially in deep-chested dogs)
- · Continuous seizures or seizures over 5 minutes
- · Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, especially with blood
- · Eye injuries, severe bleeding, or unable to urinate
- · Snake bite, severe allergic reaction
Before you leave home
- Call us — we'll prepare and advise on first-aid for transit.
- Don't induce vomiting unless we tell you to.
- For poisoning, bring the packaging or a photo of what was ingested.
- Keep your pet warm and minimise movement.
- If bleeding, apply firm pressure with a clean cloth.
